SaaS: how to use TOPsis

NOTE: The information below is about the TOPsis / vbscript functionality. TOPsis will not work on SaaS as the TOPdesk instance needs to scan your network and the SaaS network is not on the same network as your machines.

NOTE: The information below is about the TOPsis / vbscript functionality. TOPsis will not work on SaaS as the TOPdesk instance needs to scan your network and the SaaS network is not on the same network as your machines. VBscript (the newer method) will work but this functionality does not receive any maintenance. If you are looking for a future proof solution to scan you network we advice you to visit our Marketplace. Answer: The information about hardware objects can be read from a .csv file via an import or can be automatically be registered in TOPdesk via a TOPsis script. Getting the hardware information via TOPsis can be set-up as followed: - In Settings > Module settings > Configuration management > TOPsis > tab 'General' you can set which information you want to scan. - On tab 'Scan' you can then create a script which can be used to scan the hardware. A location is requested where you want to save the files which are needed for TOPdesk. You can use a location on your own network, which all computers have access to. - The created script can be set-up on the computers in your network. E.g. the script can be set up so it will be executed on start-up. - The TOPsis files which are created on the network location, can be uploaded into TOPdesk via Settings > SaaS > Upload/Download files > TOPsis files. TOPdesk will check once a day if there are new TOPsis scan files. Uploading JSON-files with WebDAV From TOPdesk 6.4.9 onwards it possible to use WebDAV for uploading the TOPsis-json-files to a TOPdesk SaaS environment. KI 7755 describes how this can be set up with WinSCP for example.
