TOPdesk 5.4: crashing in combination with IE9

Answer: We might have found an error in Internet Explorer 9, triggered by certain actions in TOPdesk 5.4, which can cause IE to crash due to a memory leak. The error is triggered when the progress trail (action field) is being refreshed while it is not visible. This can happen when an email is triggered upon saving a card. For now only IE9 seems the be affected by this problem, in combination with TOPdesk 5.4. We did not receive similar complaints involving other browsers. If you are experiencing this problem we recommend updating to a more recent version of Internet Explorer (IE 10 or 11) If this is not possible you can use a different browser, or else we can send you a patch as a workaround that will introduce a (one-second) delay between the saving of a card and triggering the action (email for example). As it should not be possible for a web application (like TOPdesk) to let a browser crash, this points to a possible bug in the mentioned browser versions. Therefore we will contact Microsoft to discuss this problem. Until that is completed, we recommend either updating Internet Explorer to the latest version, using an alternative browser, or using the patch to work around the problem.
