Answer: A test or acceptance environment can be reconfigured to again accurately reflect production as follows: 1. Make a copy (backup/user dump) of your operational database. This can cause delays on the production server; we therefore recommend doing this after normal office hours. 2. Put the backup of the TOPdesk database back and give it a clear, recognizable name. To prevent errors, use a separate database with separate authorization for the acceptance environment. 3. Start the TOPdesk service of the test environment. 4. You can access the web portal via an internet browser, at the following address: http://localhost/. 5. On the Modules tab of the Administrator Console, you can indicate that several elements of TOPdesk have to be disabled locally. In an acceptance environment, all options on this tab (the Mail Import, Event Management, customized imports and scheduled imports) should be ticked. Restart the TOPdesk server after the changes have been saved. This prevents, for example, emails from being sent when copying files from a database of the production environment to the acceptance environment or the mail import from importing emails (meant for the production environment) into the acceptance environment. 6. Open the Administrator Console again and enter the connection details in the Database block. The data needs to refer to the server and database for the acceptance environment. In the Catalogue field, enter the name of the database copy. When the connection was successful after clicking on the Test connection button and the changes have been saved, restart the TOPdesk service. 7. Check whether the path to the search index differs from the one used by your production environment. Under Settings > Technical Settings > Search > General, fill in ‘searchindex’ in the Folder for index file storage field of the Search index block. This makes sure the search index folder of every TOPdesk installation is located in its own installation folder and no installation uses the same index. 8. Make sure the mailimport or other unwanted events and actions are disabled. In the administrator console on the tab modules (or 'test environment') specific parts of TOPdesk can be locally disabled. For a test or acceptance environment it is advised to tick all the boxes (mailimport, events and actions and imports).
